"Peterson brings an appealing naturalness" — The New York Times
View Resume
Jed Peterson

I'm a New York-based actor whose work spans many prominent New York and regional theatres, film, and television. I trained at the Moscow Art Theatre School (MXAT) — as part of its first American studio — I am one of the only Americans ever to have appeared on the MXAT's Main Stage with the Russian company.

I made my stage debut as a child in The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center, having trained at the School of American Ballet, and that early discipline as a dancer informs the physicality I bring to every role. I am also a graduate of the High School of Performing Arts (the Fame school) and Princeton University.

My most celebrated work to date has been portraying Rudolf Nureyev in David Rush's Nureyev's Eyes — a role I have played in three separate productions, earning praise from Broadway World as "a revelation" and "the ultimate characterization of Nureyev." One critic wrote of my performance: "Peterson doesn't play Nureyev. He IS Nureyev."

Other highlights include the Continental Rising Star Award presented by the League of American Theaters and Producers, the Louis Sudler Prize from Princeton University, a NY Innovative Theatre Awards nomination for The Disorder Plays, and a Best Actor award from American Globe Theatre for When We Get Her Home.

On screen, I've appeared on The Blacklist, Elementary, and Madam Secretary, among others.

In my personal life, I am a father of two, a Supreme Court follower, a baseball fan, a space enthusiast, and I listen to more podcasts than is probably healthy.
